At Just we’re recruiting for our future and we now have a fantastic opportunity to join our Capital Management department as an Assistant Actuary within the Internal Modelling team on a permanent basis from our London office.

You’ll act as a key member of the Internal Model team who are responsible for ensuring that the Internal Model (IM) remains appropriate for assessing regulatory capital requirement for the business given developments in the business risk profile and strategic direction, remains up to date with market best practises and is compliant with relevant and emerging regulatory regulations.

You will also take responsibility for regular risk calibration and proxy model update exercises and work with Head of Internal Model and the wider team to specify and implement major change projects for the IM.

Some examples of key activities you will be involved in are:

  • Working with the investment team to develop and propose updates to IM methodology to appropriately reflect risk from new asset classes
  • Work with new the business pricing team to develop and propose updates to IM methodology to appropriately reflect risk of product developments
  • Lead work on regular re-calibration exercise, to cover all significant risks, including: property, interest rate, credit etc
  • Lead work on regular proxy modelling refresh

We’re looking for a nearly/newly qualified Actuary within this role who possesses a background in Life Insurance and has a strong understanding of Capital Management and or Internal Modelling.

Skills we are looking for

  • Nearly/newly qualified Actuary
  • Experience at a life insurance company with some experience in capital management or Internal Model preferable
  • Understanding of the dynamics of life insurer balance sheets and of Solvency II requirements for base balance sheet and capital requirement
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas and analysis to less technical audience
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and potentially other financial modelling software
